Ukrainian Scout Oleksandr Sych appointed as vice-prime-minister
For the first time in the history of independent Ukraine, a Ukrainian scout has become a member of the government. Congratulations to senior scout Oleksandr Sych with his appointment as vice-prime-minister in the interim government.
We wish him to constantly use the following principles of the Plast Oath to guide him in his work: be faithful to God and Ukraine, help others, and live according to the Plast Code.
For information: Oleksandr Maksymovych Sych (born July 16, 1964, Dert' village, Rivne region) - Ukrainian scientists and politician, Ph.D. (history), professor of the public administration faculty at Ivano-Frankivs'k National Technical University of Oil and Gas, deputy head of All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda".
Member of Plast since March 1991, Plast Oath taken in June 1992. Part of the command of the first reestablished Plast camp at Mount Sokil in the summer of 1991. In the same year, founds Yaremche chapter of Plast in cooperation with Vasyl' Ivanochko and becomes its head in 1993-94. Elected member of Ivan-Frankivs'k regional Council in 1994-2006, worked as a deputy director of the Department of Education of Ivano-Frankivs'k Regional State Administration, in the secretariat of Verkhovna Rada (parliament of Ukraine), and as a lecturer in political science.
Participated in 2nd to 5th National Plast Conventions, served as Head of National Plast Council of Ukraine in 2004-06. Authored a series of discussion articles in Plast publications, editor of books by B.Savchuk, "Ukrainian Plast, 1911-1939", and Y. Luts'kyi, "Excerpts from the history of tourist-ethnographic work in Plast".
